Lambert Conformal - The Lambert conformal projection is of conic type, but differs from the simple conic projection in one important aspect: While the simple cone is tangential to one parallel of the represented celestial body, in the case of the Lambert development the lines that bind the cone base of representation and its apex cut along the body's surface along two parallel lines. These are know as standard parallels and provide for very exact representation within a small extension of latitudinal aperture but of great longitudinal extent.
