Nepotism - Nepotism is to appoint to a post or grant a favour to a relative without regard for his or her qualifications or merit; the word comes from the Latin 'Nepote' (nephew) and makes reference to a customary practice in the Medieval Church. Nepotism was eradicated from the Catholic Church by imposing vows of celibacy to all members after the death of Pope Alexander VI in order to stop his son Cesare Borgia from acquiring the same title.
