De la Beche, Henry - Henry De la Beche (1796-1855) was an English geologist and author of numerous books and other works related to what was then an incipient science. He was one of the greatest adversaries of Murchison and Sedgwick regarding the theories proposed by the two latter, a debate that became famous as 'The great Devonian controversy.'
