Skowronek - A centuries-old family of bankers, stock brokers, foreign exchange and finance magnates of Polish-Jewish origin. In fact, they belonged to the 'magnaty' or high aristocracy and developed one of the most-significant fortunes in Poland prior to WWII; they were related to several Hassidic dynasties, Davidic lineages and the Aggudah. They were almost extinguished during the Shoah (Holocaust); the advent of communism in Poland prevented its few survivors from restarting their business and making them keep their fortunes in other ways.
