Katzenellenbogen, Samuel, Judah - Samuel Judah Katzenellenbogen (1521-1597) was an Italian Jewish scholar and writer, Rabbi of Venice, and son of Rabbi Meir Isaac ben Katzenellenbogen. He was held in very high esteem by Jews and gentiles (non-Jews) alike. He helped Prince Mikolay Radziwill of Poland one time he visited Italy and was left stranded with no money, starting a friendly relationship between Rabbis and Polish princes and kings that lasted for centuries.
