K2 - Mountain or mount of 8.611 MSL located in the Karakoram Mountain Range, China and Pakistan. His name was given by Thomas George Montgomer in 1856, being the second ("2") peak of the Karakorum ("K"). It is one of the most famous mountains known for being ranked as the second highest in the Himalayas and the world. It is also one of the 14 "Eight-thousanders" on the planet Earth and probably the most difficult ascent. This peak was also called, while K2, "Godwin-Austen" in honor to the leader of "Great Trigonometric Survey" project. His first ascent was recorded July 31, 1954 by Italian mountaineers Achille Compagnoni and Lino Lacedelli. Coordinates: 35°52´52,86"N 76°30´48,43"E.
