Mount Everest - Mountain or mount of 8 8848 NML of altitude belonging geographically to the Himalayas, in China and Nepal. It is one of the most famous mountains known for being ranked the highest in the Himalayas and the world. It is also one of the 14 eight-thousanders on the planet Earth. Original and locally this mountain is called with the name "Chomolungma" or "Qomolangma Feng" in China, and "Sagarmatha" in Nepal, while its western name was released in 1865 in honor of the British geographer George Everest. His first ascent was recorded May 29, 1953 by mountaineers Edmund Hillary (English) and Tenzing Norgay (Nepali sherpa). Coordinates: 27°59´16"N 86°56´40"E.
